The solution is also used to treat tinea versicolor, a fungal infection that produces brown, tan, or white spots on the trunk of the body.

Class and mechanism: Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) is an antifungal agent that is taken by mouth or applied to the skin. Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) acts by interfering with the ability of fungi to make chemicals called sterols that are an important part of the membrane that surrounds fungal cells and holds them together. This weakens the cell membrane. Oral terbinafine is more effective for treating fungal nail infections than griseofulvin (Fulvicin; Gris-Peg) and itraconazole (Sporanox), two other antifungal agents used for treating fungal nail infections.

Store this medication at room temperature away from moisture and heat. The cream and solution should be stored at room temperature, and not refrigerated.
How to take Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine)?
Take Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these instructions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you
Before applying Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) solution, clean and dry the infected area thoroughly. Use enough solution to fully wet the entire area. When using either the solution or the cream, do not cover the treated area with dressings unless directed by your doctor.
Take all of the Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better. The symptoms may begin to improve before the infection is completely treated. It may take several months to cure a fingernail or toenail infection
What happens if I miss a dose?
Take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and return to your regular schedule. Do not take two doses at one time.
If OVERDOSE occurs seek emergency medical attention.
Symptoms of a Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) overdose are not well known but might include
drowsiness, poor coordination, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, frequent urination, rash, and headache.
Who should not take Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine)?
This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy.
If you feel you have experienced an allergic reaction, stop using this medicine and inform your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
What side effects may occur?

- Fatigue
- Dizziness
- Depression
- Blood disorders
Side effects of the cream and solution are uncommon. They include burning or irritation, itching, dryness, peeling, and rash.
Drug Interactions
It is important to tell your doctor or pharmacist what medicines you are already taking, including those bought without a prescription and herbal medicines, before you start treatment with this medicine.
It is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) tablets with the following:
- Antidepressants such as Elavil, Nardil, Norpramin, Pamelor, Parnate, Paxil, Prozac, Tofranil, and Zoloft
- Cimetidine (Tagamet)
- Cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune
- Rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane)
You may not be able to take Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) , or you may require a dosage
adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

Generic Lamisil (Terbinafine) does not produce instant results. You won't see the full effect of the tablets for several months, until a healthy new nail has grown out. The cream and solution also work gradually. It usually takes a week for results to appear, and improvement often continues
for 2 to 6 weeks after treatment has stopped. However, if you see no change at all after a full week of applying the cream or solution, notify your doctor. The problem may be other than fungal.
Make sure you take this medicine regularly and complete the course as directed by your doctor. It is important to complete the course, even if your symptoms have cleared up, otherwise there is a risk of the infection returning. If there are no signs of improvement after two
weeks, consult your doctor.
